Full description
This is a set of 6 buttons in the design 'Lace Flower'. I will make them in your choice of colour .
They are handmade using the traditional Dorset Button craft. Dorset buttons were a way of making buttons before the Industrial Revolution.
They are made using a ring (in this case plastic) and wrapping and weaving thread round and through the ring. I use embroidery thread (floss).
I use either DMC or Anchor thread, and when you decide what colour you want I will make one and show you, then if you like it I will make the rest of the set. They are hundreds of colours to choose from and I will send you a link to the colour chart if you are unsure what colour to choose. You can have all 6 in one colour, or have the buttons in different colours (like my rainbow set here http://folksy.com/items/3325130-Handmade-Dorset-Cross-Wheel-Butt).
These buttons are made using a 100% cotton thread.
They are approximately 1.5 cms (half an inch)in size.
These buttons can be used simply as buttons on a garment or sewn or stuck as embellishments. These buttons can be traditional and contemporary depending on the colours used and the clothes you choose.
I would recommend hand-washing if used on garments, however in a trial I have washed at 40 degrees and then tumble-dried a similar button 3 times with no effect.
PLEASE NOTE these buttons will be made for you so please give an extra two days on top of the normal delivery time.
