Yew is one of my favourite types of wood. You never know what delights await when opening up a log.

This memory stick is made from a piece of yew log cut across the grain and reminds me of the figuring you see in olive wood. The stick is longer than most, but I was reluctant to cut another couple of inched off the end just for the sake of it; the grain is so attractive, so I left it!

I do favour a finish that allows the ‘woodiness’ of the material to show through rather than a glossy varnish and most of what I have on sale feature an oil and hard wax finish.

Superstitious?

…then with a wooden memory stick, you can always ‘Touch Wood’!
