From our 'Wordy' range, the Jazz T-shirt works on a couple of ways. It makes a perfect present for any Jazz music lover who just wants to look a little more stylish but also in a literal way.
The word Jazz surfaced in 1913 when a San Francisco commentator described 'Jazz' as a ''futuristic word which had just joined the language.''
He didn`t mean in the musical sense but rather as a slang term for 'pep' and 'excitement'.
It also meant 'excessive talk, nonsense' and the expression ''all that jazz'' comes from that, meaning basically, 'stuff like that'.
Musically it`s first noted in the Chicago Press in 1915- and it`s a phrase that quickly took off and stuck with fans of the 'Jazz' genre.
How cool is that. Great word. Learning as we go.
