What is a fat quarter and how do you sell them?
A fat quarter is a patchwork or quilting term for a piece of fabric
that is 18x22 inches in size. It's basically one yard (from the bolt) which has been quarter. It is a way of purchasing smaller quantities of fabric for sewer's who want a variety of prints or for smaller craft projects.
It is still easy to buy larger lengths of fabric for dress making, home decorating and quilting by ordering multiple fat quarters. Here is a simple chart to show you how it works:
1 fat quarter is 18x22 inches or 45x55 cm.
2 fat quarters is 18x44 inches or 45x111cm.
3 fat quarters is 27x44 inches or 68x111 cm.
4 fat quarters is 36x44 inches or 91 x111 cm.
Your fabric will always be cut to the longest length.
