Full description
This item was made by melting a slab of glass through a ring. This process is quite difficult involving opening the hot kiln and watching the glass slump through. It is a case of holding your nerve until the vessel drops to a good length but not so long that the edges slip through the ring.....disaster. The next heart stopping moment is when the waste glass is cut from the rim...... Then the grinding to smooth the rim! Why do I like making these so much ??? Oh, I do, though. It is worth it for something so delicate and beautiful, poised on a tiny base like a ballet shoe on point. The colours begin to blend from the base more and more up to the rim.
This little beauty is 5cm across the rim and is 11.5cm tall. It is mostly blue with vanilla and a little blush of petal pink. It reminds of sweet peas.
