Item details

This somewhat unusual lamp has a central core of English Cherry. This was obtained from Sevenoaks, from a tree blown down in the great storm of 1987. Each face is then built up with a layer of mahogany, before being capped with zebrano - a wood with markedly contrasting grain, very much like a zebra, from where its' name originates. The lamination is done under pressure using industrial grade adhesives to ensure long-life. The finished lamps are given several coats of an environmentally friendly blend of natural waxes.

The lamp comes with a 3M long gold coloured lead and fitted 13 amp plug with 3 A fuse. The brass lampholder is switched and earthed via the lead. Lamps are fully tested to comply with relevant safety requirements.

This lamp is approx 39 cm to the top of the lampholder and 10cm across.

Idly passing a rather exclusive local gallery, I saw a number of rather quirky table lamps, closer inspection revealed somewhat breathtaking prices. I was sure I could do something equally attractive, but at price people could afford, and so started my venture into lamp making. Each lamp is normally unique, but on a couple of occasions I have been asked for a matching pair to go on bedside tables, you can see one of these pairs on the lamps gallery on my website, together with the diverse range of styles which I have produced so far. With the exception of the occasional piece of exotic wood, these lamps are made from fully reclaimed timber.

Items must be returned unused & in the condition in which they were supplied, using suitable packaging & for your protection should require a signature upon delivery.
