Item details

This is one of several bowls made from the trunk of a pear tree which at some point many years ago suffered damage and as a result it started to rot. Eventually whilst it was still growing and fruiting, the time came to fell it and rather than burn it, it provided a source of wood for some absolutely unique and fascinating bowls.

The wood was turned immediately after felling and then allowed to dry, accentuating the uniqueness of each bowl, as the wood changed shape during the process.

The bowls have been sanded to give a rustic appearance and, in order to protect and seal in the natural bark edge, finished with several coats of melamine lacquer with a final coat of environmentally friendly waxes.

This bowl is approx 13cm high and 18cm across.

Each piece of wood is unique, but this tree was something special and begged not to be wasted but be turned into something truly unique. Whilst I had an outcome in mind when I started turning, little did I imagine how these bowls would turn out.

Should you not be delighted with the item, then contact must be made in writing (email) within 7 working days of receipt. I regret I am unable to refund return carriage costs. Items must be returned unused & in the condition in which they were supplied, using suitable packaging & for your protection should require a signature upon delivery. I am not able to accept returns of custom made items.
