100% pure sari silk ribbon yarn.
My silk sari ribbon yarn is made from 100% pure silk, there is no rayon or mixed fibers added to my skeins to bulk them out!
Each skein is handmade and unique, in most you will notice wonderful patterns of the saris they came from, some are beaded, some have metallic thread through them. So inspirational and exotic and all fair trade.
Yarn Yarn's sari silk ribbon is a by product of silk sari manufacturing in India, it is not produced from old saris. It is in fact the silk waste from the sari textile mills in India which would otherwise be destroyed. This beautiful handmade sari yarn is made by women's co-operatives in rural India. The silk sari strips are hand cut and tied end to end and made into skeins. These women work from home and earn their own income and run their own businesses, they have a quality of life and can afford to sent their children to school.
This unique and magical art yarn can be used as a knitting yarn, for crocheting, wall hangings, murals, embellishements, rugs, scarves, baskets, jewellery making, hats and many more fibre art projects.
Let your imagination go wild with this fabulous and inspirational fair trade silk sari ribbon yarn, there really is nothing like it.
