Let's FIKA! In Sweden there is a phrase, “Ska vi fika?”, which roughly translates as “Shall we have a coffee break?”. But it actually means an awful lot more than that. Fika is both a verb and a noun and ‘to Fika’ with someone is to ‘have a break with them’ : a coffee date without the romantic connotations, although why not, and usually involves having something to eat such as Kanelbullar (a home-baked traditional cinnamon bun) or cake. It's a time for reconnecting with friends, staring in to space with a steaming cup of coffee and simply watching the snow fall.
