I love the richness of the velvet and how it can reflect the light when you iron it with the nap of the velvet.

Full description
Apart from weaving the silk and hemming this, it's entirely hand-done.
Making Devore or 'burn out' is an expensive and time consuming process, little wonder that most people buy it already done with the pattern etched off and ready to dye. It is done by the application of an enzyme type gel which loosens the rayon fibres, leaving behind the transparent silk, in this case dyed orangey red. This technique can only be done on silk/rayon mix fabrics.
I have designed this myself, the pattern is unique to me and is drawn on freehand without templates or stencils. It features my 'berry branch' design.
The background colour is rich black, the pattern is completed in an orange/red. I have used Dupont dyes which enable me to dye the scarf 2 different colours at the one time in the one pot.
The scarf is large and could easily be tied around the neck or draped around the shoulders.
The paler sections in the photographs are the reflection of the lustre from the silk velvet. If you prefer a flatter matt look then just iron it against the pile of the velvet. It is gloriously soft.
This measures 13 x 68 inches approx.
Cool handwash.
