Full description

'The Heart of Yorkshire'

This linocut print shows part of the great west window of York Minster, the largest Gothic cathedral in northern Europe. The window is traditionally known as the Heart of Yorkshire which derives from the the heart shaped tracery in the window and also from the fact that the Minster was close to the centre of the ancient county of Yorkshire in England, until the county was divided up into four administrative areas in the 20th century.

At first glance this appears to be a simple black and white print, but infact other colours are subtly blended with the black to give the impression of stained glass when seen from outside the building. The plate is re-inked by hand for each print so the blend is different every time and no two prints are identical. Your print will be unique and will not necessarily be one photographed here.

The title and artist's monogram are written under the image in pencil.

The print is UNFRAMED. (Framed image is shown only as a presentation suggestion).

The copyright watermark is of course not on the actual print.

Image size 10 x 15 cm (approx 4 x 6")

Paper size 19 x 28 cm (can be trimmed for framing)

Printed using oil based inks on Saunders Waterford 90lb watercolour paper.
