Stepping out of the summerhouse studio at Burton Agnes Hall at the end of the day, I was struck by the shadows being cast by the yew topiary. I grabbed my sketch book and as I stood drawing, the air around me filled with swallows and house martins scooping up the evening insects

'Summer Evening, Burton Agnes'
Garden and birds linoprint in shades of blue
The three plates for this handpulled print were designed and cut while I was Artist in Residence at Burton Agnes Hall, a historic country house in Yorkshire in the north of England. It shows the view from my studio door across the lawns to the gatehouse, with the magnificent rows of ancient yew bushes and with swallows and house martins whirling overhead.
The print has been hand printed on quality 210gsm Zerkall printmaking paper.
Please note that as each print is individually handpulled there may be small variations from the photos here.
This print is supplied unframed and unmounted.
The title and artist's signature are written in pencil under the image.
Open edition print.
