Full description

This collectable teapot is 5 inches or 13cm tall

If you are looking for something quite unique, this is for you

Contact me through Folksy, if you want more details or information about this piece

The teapot was made at Elwick Mill Pottery on the small island of Shapinsay, Orkney in the UK

Teapots are some of the most popular items that I make, and have been producing them for the last twenty five years

A delicate, turquoise teapot that would fit in any ceramic collection or on any mantel piece. Great for gifts as no two pieces are ever the same. It is signed by the maker, David Holmes

Raku ware is not recommended for food use due to the porosity of the clay, The process of raku, involves firing the ware, ( made from porcelain, mixed with a fine malachite, (like fine sand) to enable the piece to withstand the thermal shock during the firing cycle ) This is a fast process taking about 20 minutes to an hour, to a temperature of 1000c, the pots are then quickly removed from the kiln and placed in a container of sawdust ,or some other combustible material, Upon contact with the sawdust , the glowing hot pot, causes the sawdust to ignite, with a heavy smoking atmosphere, This is the way the pot develops the crackle effect, and often lustre.

It would complement any quality ceramic collection

Made in September 2012

All of my work is sold with a money back guarantee if you not completely satisfied

The teapot comes with a maker’s card and my ceramics leaflet
