A lotus flower. It started in the mud. It was hidden in murky water. It travelled through tangles of roots. Bursting forth from turbulence... and now it is radiant and blooming. It is a metaphor. For you.

Makes a lovely gift for anyone needing a bit of hope and inspiration on their path in life. That's pretty much everyone - and that includes you (for you must always be your own good friend). Frame it for a wall; post it to a friend; pop it in a scrapbook. Don't forget to see my other little waterscape prints, like ( fish ) or ( sea serpents).

size A5 acid free, smooth, heavy weight cartridge paper (that's 148 x 210 mm or 5.8 x 8.3 inches). Fits standard sized frames (either A5 or 8x6inch apertures are fine. frames are not included in the sale.)

Materials: I use water based (eco friendly) acrylic inks in pastel pinks and blues to give peaceful meditation like feel to this artprint. All materials are archival to last as an heirloom into the future.

Important stuff: My screenprints are hand printed and hand registered by eye and unlike computer generated images are subject to slight variations that make each a unique piece of art.

Inspiration: The lotus flower is a Buddhist symbol for the path to enlightenment. Some of us are in the murky water, but sure enough, in the course of time, we can raise our heads clear of the mud and reach enlightenment. I hope.

Process: I drew the water pattern in pen and ink, and then transferred it to a silkscreen and reversed the image in a long drawn out process. Then I made another screen with the flower in and printed the image in two colours.
