With their distictive call of "hoo hoo", these pretty birds are to be found over a wide swathe of the warmer contries of the world, from the Mediterranean to India, and even as far south as Botswana. In legend a Hoopoe was said to lead the Queen of Sheba to meet King Solomon. The combination of copper, silver and oxidised silver is perfect to portray them.
