Kingfisher gocco print on recycled map print. This is a screen print taken from an original kingfisher drawing by me in my series of birds studies. It is printed on a map from the Norfolk Broads in the UK a very watery area where kingfishers like to live.
The Common Kingfisher, Alcedo atthis, also known as Eurasian Kingfisher or River Kingfisher, this sparrow-sized bird has the typical short-tailed, large-headed kingfisher profile; it has blue upper parts, orange underparts and a long bill. The glossy white eggs are laid in a nest at the end of a burrow in a riverbank.
It is a beautiful British bird but we are lucky if we see a bright blue flash on the river bank as they are so fast and elusive.
