Dorset button making is a traditional British craft that has been practised for centuries, with the cottage industry reaching it's peak during the 18th and 19th centuries. Initially the buttons were made from a disc of the horn of Dorset Sheep. In modern times these handmade buttons are usually made using a curtain ring!
