These cute needlecases are inspired by rationing in Britain from 1939 - 1954 and my very own Grandma. I made my own ration book from card and coffee (for age staining!) and then drew all the text/ type onto it. This is not a copy of a ration book, but a print of my own artwork. I've been making them for a couple of years and is one of my favourite things to make! I'm toying with the idea of personalising them as a service in the future.

Full description
Printed cotton cover with original design/ artwork.
The needlecase measures 8 x 9.5cm and is printed, assembled and sewn with my own hands in my own home. A great item for all the make do and menders out there!
The inside is lined with a contrasting piece of fabric that has been upcycled. There are 3 old fashioned glass headed pins and a needle inside, attached to a bright felt insert. There is also a little label attached explaining the inspiration behind the item. The reverse is plain except for the words Handmade by Blackbird Alley copyright 2010 in blue ink to match the front.
The fabric lining is upcycled cotton- whatever is in my stash and looks nice. The felt colours inside are from a random selection of green, pink, orange or blue. The fabric used may not match the photos, but I take care to choose a nice combination of fabric and felt. If you would like a particular colour then please contact me and I will do my best to supply.
