Full description

This rustic mug was thrown on the wheel and fired to 1250 degrees centigrade in a saggar with charcoal and wood. It stands on three little bun feet and is very pleasant and easy to hold in the hand. The mug measures approx. 3.5 inches tall and 3.25 inches wide across the mouth.

The shino glaze on this piece is a very light golden colour with a subtle lustre and plenty of specking from iron in the clay. There is some interesting variation in the glaze texture and even a little carbon trapping which can be seen in the darker areas. As is traditional with Japanese pottery, fingermarks have been left at the base to show where the mug was dipped in the glaze.

I have tried to photograph as accurately as possible, but please bear in mind that colours may vary slightly under differing lighting conditions.

Postage and packing for this piece will be at a fixed cost of £3.70 for first class recorded delivery.
