This is the famous "Mad March Hare", a creature predominantly solitary and nocturnal, little seen except during it's 'Mad March' behaviour, when hares are often witnessed "boxing" one another as part of their courtship. This one, based on our native Brown Hare, looks rather docile as he pauses from grazing by moonlight, to sniff the chill spring air around him.

Full description
This wallhanging was created by hand-carding a small selection of pre-dyed merino wools to create an orange-green rainbow palette, which was then lightly worked into a 'pre-felt' with silver-grey highlights. The Hare was cut from this, then applied to a merino wool 'sky' with light curls of Wensleydale wool for ‘clouds’ and Shetland wool for ‘grass’. This background was laid over a pre-felted Merino wool base. Embroidery silks were used to define the Hare, before a light embellishment with glass seed and bugle beads to highlight the moonlight.
The Wallhanging measures 22cm x 32cm.
It has a cotton backing hand-stitched onto the reverse, along with a name/date label. Due to the nature of the materials this item is not suitable for mounting under glass, so it comes with a small D-ring stitched to the reverse for hanging.
This item is decorative: please keep out of the reach of small children due to small parts.
Your wallhanging will be wrapped in acid-free tissue paper for transit, and will be posted by First Class post within 3 days of clearance of payment.
