Inspired by colourful beach huts along the promenade; all lovingly personalised by their owners, with striped deckchairs and vintage curtains. I could imaging a little cat like this making its way through the dunes to sit in the sun and scroung the odd saucer of milk!

Full description

Living near the sea I'm often fascinated by the rows of beach huts; the clash of colours and fabrics; bright stripes and strings of shell decorations. With this in mind, I created Beach Hut Buddy doorstop - inspired by vintage milk bottles; made from end-of-roll hessian mix in mushroom, with a thin blue stripe; deckchair stripe cotton base; gingham trim; eye patch and ears from recycled felt (from old plastic bottles); odd vintage shell button eyes; hand-embroidered face detail; appliqued St Mary's Milk lable; vintage fabric covered button detail; chain stitched with 'Beach Hut Buddy'; rustic string loop handle; Sutffed with fibre I was lucky enough to find at my local St Barnabas charity shop; weighted with dried rice; stands about 27cm high.

Designed by Janet Allinson in The garden of my seaside home in lincolnshire.
