Browsing the web for a cupcake pattern, I didn't find any that seemed quite right. So I decided to design my own. I thought of making a butterfly cake, but then I decided a spider would be great fun, especially as the octagonal shaping of the top lends itself beautifully to a spider's web.
I love the challenge of finding knitting techniques which get as close as possible to real life objects. I am also very aware that knitters (myself included) would rather not have to do lots of seaming, so with that in mind I aim to construct my patterns as efficiently as possible.
