As you may have noticed from our shop, we love vintage and antique furniture and absolutely love retro fabrics, so we try to incorporate them as much as we can in our creations. We like to look through antique markets and auctions mainly for little gems of the past, in this way also re-using and recycling furniture and other materials. We also like to keep an eye for good quality contemporary materials which patterns show an influence from past eras. This is the case for the fabric used to re-upholster this armchair which is a modern piece that we think enhances and complements this antique, whilst modernising it at the same time.

Full description
This is a Thonet bentwood armchair, by the famous Austrian designer that greatly developed the technology of bent-wood furniture. It is an original antique piece dating to c. 1920, having a manufacturer's stamp on the underside of the seat.
It is made of beech that has been stained in a dark walnut-like colour. The design is inspired by Chinese chairs having a little carved motif on the armrests. It used to be a desk chair but the legs have been reduced and it would now make a lovely decorative addition in any room such as a bedroom chair or to seat by the fire.
The seat has been re-upholstered using a striking modern material to bring it up-to-date. The frame has been polished and waxed to bring up the lovely original patina of the wood.
It measures 26"(H) x 21" (W) x 18" (D)
We are confident that you will be very happy with your "Light & Dew" purchase. Nonetheless, we also like to remind our buyers that our furniture is usually either vintage or antique. By that we mean that they are 2nd-hand, as opposed to new. This means that they often display some signs of their age, although we do not sell anything that we do not consider to be in good condition. If you, however, are for any reason not satisfied with your purchase when you receive it, please contact us at Folksy and we will be happy to arrange a refund.
