I was thinking of what to make for my husband this year and so did some research into what was used as love tokens in the past. Lovers gave their loved ones gloves, some fantastic Elizabethan ones. Coins were also filed down and then engraved with simple messages and sentiments. There are also some lovely examples of simple paper cutting in American folk art. So. I was inspired to make this pocket heart and message.

What could be more fitting for giving your heart away with it's inner most secrets this Valentine's Day?
This red card heart shaped pocket has a love message tucked inside. The message is collaged onto a series of folding squares that are linked together. When the threads are pulled the squares expand to reveal stencilled hearts and the words BE MY ONE TRUE LOVE. There are stencilled hearts on the reverse and space to write your own more personal love letter.
The complete item comes in a cream envelope and will be sent to you protected in a jiffy bag.
