I love the story of Alice in Wonderland and also love reading novels by Phillipa Gregory. Having recently finished reading "The Red Queen" I had the costumes of Lewis Carrol's Red Queen in mind, along with those of Margaret Beaufort, the slightly machivellian figure behind the Tudor Dynasty. As the tea cosy evolved I found those ideas coing through really strongly and so let me imagination and creativity run

Full description

A hand crocheted red and black tea cosy with 2 matching coasters makes the ideal centre piece for a romantic tea or breakfast for 2. This item is one of a kind, so you will be certain of giving a special gift that no one else will have!

Inspired by the costumes of the "Red Queen" in Alice of Wonderland, the red background layer is embellished with layered red and black Irish crochet roses and black irish crochet hearts. The red frill trims are under crocheted with black frills, giving you a cheeky glimpse of "under skirts".

The matching coasters feature an irish crochet heart, edged with a fine black frill. This is then crocheted into a larger square, again trimmed with a deeper red frill.
