'Mermaid girls are rare as pearls and wonderful and wild' ( from Mermaid Poems by Clare Bevan.)
This 'wonderful and wild' little mermaid is appliquéd, machine and hand embroidered onto a natural linen background.
The emboidery hoop is approx 21cm or 8ins in diameter and backed with natural calico.
It can be hung from a hook by the brass screw fastening (as in the photograph) or could have a ribbon attached.
