Full description
Maurice came for his sitting with a feeling that something was missing. He rummaged through my dressing up box and chose the party hat. I told him he looked a little serious, but he said he felt happy inside.
Maurice is hand-painted with a tiny brush on to a pebble, with added detail in fine pen. The brooch is varnished with satin varnish, and is held to the safety pin by ribbon and material which are glued securely and coated with PVA. Maurice is certainly splash-proof, but it's perhaps best not to wear him whilst swimming!
The pebble is approximately 32mm x 25mm and is also pictured next to a penny.
