I was lucky enough to visit Mexico City a few years ago, visiting the house of Frida Kahlo and watching an authentic Lucha Libre match. I have since been fascinated with all things Mexican and began crafting through my love of the culture of Mexico.

This features an image of La Calavera Catrina by the artist Jose Posada, an elegant skeletal lady often associated with Day of the Dead. It is set behind a glass pebble, surrounded with turquoise glitter. It is embellished with a cactus charm and small plastic heart.
This is part of my series of bottlecap brooches, influenced by mexican culture and using iconic images from themes such as Day Of The Dead, Lucha Libre, Loteria bingo and Frida Kahlo.
The bottlecaps are all upcycled from different drinks, some are from mexican beers but the brands will vary.
They are all hand crafted by myself, in my home so are all unique items, not mass manufactured.
