Dearest customers. After some time away, I am back making crochet clothing with sustainable fibres again. A place with a hook and a still mind. I hope you like what I produce!
Crochet Mushroom's studio space is based in a little hamlet on the banks of the river Tay in North East Fife, Scotland. My bags and accessories are sold all over the world and in art galleries and gift shops in Scotland.
Crochet Mushroom’s range of products are created using pure fibres only. From rare breed pure wool from the North of Scotland to recycled sari silk skeins handspun by women's co-operatives in India. East meets west. I aim to use natural, eco friendly, pure wool spun using traditional techniques. Most of these unique designs which range from bags to wrist cuffs are produced using the hyperbolic crochet Method. These techniques based on geometry create a fabulous ruffled edge taking crochet to a higher plane! Inspiration is gained from the landscapes and coastlines of Northern Scotland, the colours of the heather and the skies. There really is no part of the world like it. Full description
Mulberry silk is the most expensive silk you can buy. The reason it is more superior than other silks is as follows. It is made by a process the Chinese developed thousands of years ago and have perfected, making them the world's experts in producing the finest silk.
Mulberry silk is made from the silkworms of the Bombyx mori moth.
The resulting mulberry silk thread is the strongest natural fiber in the world, making it incredibly durable. A silk fiber the same diameter as a fiber of steel is stronger than the steel.
The mulberry silk thread is also rounder, finer, smoother, and a lighter more uniform color than silk harvested from the wild where those silkworms have to eat whatever leaves and plants that are available to them.
Mulberry silk is also known as cultivated silk and bombyx silk but mulberry silk is the most commonly used term. It is also sometimes referred to it by its type which is thrown or reeled silk.
This listing is for a wonderful bohemian tote, that easily slips over the shoulder, it is distincive, beautifully crocheted and lined in deep orange silk. Tree slice button has been handmade in South West Scotland by a wonderful wood artist.
Handmade in Scotland.
I hope you find inspiration within.
