"Homage to the Sun God"
When I first decided upon the idea for this necklace it was coming into the winter months and the sun was becoming weaker and the nights longer. So what better way to celebrate the return of the sun than through ancient symbolic reverence.
Homage to the Sun God is a necklace entirely handmade using sterling silver.
The necklace is in two parts:
Part 1 - the chain made from sterling silver wire formed into links. The chain is approx. 24 inches (61 cm) in length and can be worn on its own, as a silver hand forged chain. It is finished with a handmade clasp.
Part 2: The Sun God pendant is made from sheet sterling silver, approx 2mm thickness and has sterling silver rays. The central 'belly' of the sun is a 1.92 ct heliodor beryl gemstone (originates from brazil) which has been unconventionally set upwards, into the centre of the pendant to symbolise flames emanating from the suns centre. helio is greek for 'sun'.
The sun is attached to the necklace via a sterling silver hook.
The sun is detachable.
This piece is much more than just a neckalce, it is wearable sculpture and a statement.
The necklace hangs long when worn.
Both the chain and the pendant are hallmarked with the Lynwood jewellery hallmark, LJ.
