Full description

A matching pair of wood-fired guinomi, traditionally used in Japan for drinking sake...but perfect for a sip of anything strong! They were thrown on a kickwheel and then fired in a wood kiln for 18 hours to 1300 degrees centigrade.

The dark specks are from fly ash in the kiln dropping onto the pieces. The glaze has crawled and bubbled in places, which is part of the charm of shino glaze. I have tried to photograph as accurately as possible, but please bear in mind that colours may vary slightly when seen in different light.

Unsigned. Each cup measures approx. 6 cms tall.
