Let them eat cake.' Marie Antoinette....well actually she said 'let them eat brioche' !
Marie Antoinette married at age fourteen and when her husband ascended the throne as Louis VXI in 1774, she automatically became Queen of France. She was eventually tried for treason and was executed by guillotine in 1793.
The Marie brass cuff design has a beautiful and subtle quality to it; pastel colors of pink, lilac and lemon have an almost iridescent sheen whilst the captivating blue eyes of Marie stay focused on you. A vintage portrait of Marie Antoinette has been graphically reworked and enhanced to form an eye-catching piece and the quote has been added in playful lilac colored calligraphy. Utterly pretty and elegant.
The brass cuff measures 1.5" tall and 5.5" round with an opening of 1.5", easily adjustable by using slight pressure once on your wrist. The brass (an alloy of zinc and copper) ages beautifully and uniquely; it will change patina over time and this is completely natural. The artwork I use is slightly translucent and the patterns you see are from the patina of the brass underneath. All protected under a sealant for extra durability but I would advise NOT to go rushing into the sea whilst wearing it or similar interactions with water.
This piece is handmade in England, United Kingdom so please allow 5-7 days before it can be shipped....things have to dry !
Arrives wrapped in non-tarnish tissue paper, gift boxed and tied with organza ribbon, completely gorgeous for gift-giving.
