Vintage patterns attract me because of their simple look and classic shape (especially the 1950s) in general, and the difficulty level. I wanted to use a classic fabric with a retro feel.

I have made this semi-fitted shell top from a 1950s vintage pattern. I have used new Liberty Tana Lawn, which is a very fine quality cotton. The fabric is called "Pep".
The pattern is 60 years old and the top is absolutely unique in style and fabric!
The back has 6 buttons and a hook at the top. The buttons are shell. The buttonholes are hand worked. All the facings and seams inside the top are nicely finished, and the sleeves are faced with the same fabric.
The bust measures around 39-40" so it would be suitable for someone with a 38" bust.
The model in the pictures has a 34" bust, the top is slightly big for her but you can get a better idea of the shape of the top than if I laid it flat.
