Full description

A beautiful piece of celtic sculpture for your wall.

Based on a drawing by Courtney Davis, this plaque depicts two entwined figures, their knotwork hair becoming the heads of hounds - symbols of fidelity in celtic lore.

This work will be the centrepiece of any room in the home, whether as a wedding gift, a love token, seventh anniversary gift, or simply as a piece of work to admire forever.

It is hand cast in bonded copper from my original plaster carving and finished with a faux verdigris/tiffany green patina.

It measures 32cm x 34cm approx and is also suitable for outdoor use.

Bronze and aluminium versions are also available (please see my other listings)

What customers have said about a similar item:

"This is an absolutely amazing and totally unique piece!!!! It is very well made and was packed so well that it went from UK to Philadelphia (USA) without a scratch!!!! I love its colors and everything about it."

How it's made

The original plaque took a week to carve out of plaster of paris

A glove mould was made from silicone rubber and the original discarded.

Copper powder is mixed with polyester gelcoat resin and this is painted onto the inside of the mould

A loop of picture wire is inserted at this point.

Because polyester is quite brittle, polyurethene resin is poured to fill the mould and lock the hanging loop in place

When cured the plaque is rubbed with wire wool to expose and polish the copper.

A verdigris acrylic colour is mixed and painted onto the plaque.

When dry, the majority of the paint is rubbed away with wire wool and the plaque is finished with a wax polish
