African Violet Elizabethan Inspired Neck Ruff, or headband, is a fanciful creation in Chenille Yarn.
This Neck Ruff is worn instead of a scarf, for those ladies who want to keep warm and stylish, but do not want to be tucking scarf ends into their jackets.
It is simply worn by popping over the head and sits comfortably around the neck, can also be worn around the head and an extra wide head band, or pulled up over the face against the chill winds of the season.
To create this Elizabethan style Neck Ruff, a large band of the chenille yarn was knitted on circular needles, then gathered into soft pleats and the edges crocheted onto narrower bands, to fit a little more snuggly around the neck line.
An over large inner band of the chenille yarn was then knitted and securely sewn into place, so that it pads out the pleated section and allows it to sit warmly and snuggly against then neck.
There is a large amount of yarn in this item! I do not work from patterns, therefore everthing I create is unquie.
The chenille yarn is a wonderful purple blue colour, the shade is French Navy, but does have a purple hint.
Approximate size, when relaxed and laid flat the neck ruff measures approx 28cms in width and approx 17cms in height, measurements taken at its widest points.
