In this awesome one-of-a-kind piece, each of the nine Butterflies are built with wonderful words and images from the Origin of Species by none other than Charles Darwin.
From an illustrated edition of Origin of Species. The content is painstakingly chosen, the butterflies hand cut, hand sewn and attached.
The colour illustrations marry well to the text and even include an image of a dashing 31 year old Darwin.
The piece will come to you in a black wood shadow box measuring 28.5cm x 23.5cm (outer dimensions of the frame) which can be either freestanding or hung.
The butterfly art really works for me, from a distance it's one pretty thing, then close up, it's a deeper level of personal detail. I can't get enough of symmetry and meaning in detail.
