This piece started out as a doodle when i was in my 'tree drawing phase'. i'd created many many whilst thinking about the exhibition and the book i was reading. A breakthrough occured when i included drawings I'd seen my two children make as well as trying to capture 'Olive' my cat as a pencil drawing. This culmination seemed a perfect representation of the sentiments expressed in the words of the poem.

Full description
This piece of work is from a series based on Scandinavian love poetry. The series was created for an exhibition at the Point Theatre in Hampshire, which will be on show before Christmas this year.
The work was researched before drawings were made based on the imagery that came from the particular poem. These were then translated onto hand painted paper and cut by hand.
The title of this piece is taken from a poem by Bo Bergman, "Hjarat" (the heart) in En manniska (One human being) 1908.
"The heart must grow from dreams,
or it is a wretched heart."
This is a giglee print on museum paper and is of archival quality.
