hand cut and painted original layered papercut
54 x 54 x 5 cms.
white frame, ready to hang
This piece of work is from a series based on love poetry. The series was created for an exhibition at the Point Theatre in Hampshire, which will be on show before Christmas this year.
The work was researched before drawings were made based on the imagery that came from the particular poem. These were then translated onto hand painted paper and cut by hand. This piece includes imagery from a piece of found vintage wallpaper.
The title of the piece is taken from a poem by an unknown Maori tribe, Matai rore au (love song).
"Oh how can I quiet my heart,
That is tossed from north to south?"
