*Why North Ronaldsay Fibre?
This fibre is much easier to use for beginners, the length of the fibres is not as long, the fibres grip together better. North Ronaldsay sheep are a very primitive breed, but unlike many primitive breeds have a relatively fine and soft fleece. This is a rare breed that only lives on the island of North Ronaldsay in Scotland, for much of the year it grazes the shore of the island eating seaweed. By buying this fibre you're supporting an ancient industry and way of life that goes back to 3000BC.
For more information about this breed take a look at the Rare Breeds Survival Trust Webpage- http://www.rbst.org.uk/watch-list/sheep/northronaldsay
Please note, this fibre varies in it's shades of brown, some batches are darker, others lighter. You can choose from white, or brown, pick 50g (2 bumps), of the same colour, or 25g each of 2 different colours.
*Batts are triple carded and made from 50% British Shetland, 50% Merino. Colours available are red, green, blue or magenta.
*My rovings are hand blended using a hackle, this creates open, easy to draft fibre. Made from a blend of British BFL (Blue Faced Leicester), and Merino. Available in a choice of green, blue, red, or magenta.
For UK buyers I will send this item Second Class as it helps keep the cost down, if you need it urgently send me a message and I'll send you an adjusted invoice. Sorry, but I can't combine postage on this item as it's sent as a separate package. For postage all fibres will be sent in a plastic bag to prevent any damage.
Please note, I replace fibres as they sell with fresh blends. They are made in the same way using the same base colours, but you may not receive the exact fibre shown in the pictures.
