Full description
Over the years I have made scores of boxes as gifts and they're always well received. This one measures about 7" x 4.5" x 3" externally and it's made from spalted beech, with a beech lid and ebonised sycamore.
The base is lined with green crushed velvet and the decorative 'slip-feathers' in the corners are bog-oak.
(Spalting is the amazing effect that can appear when a log is left especially in woodland before it begins to rot. Bog-oak is wood from trees that have been buried in peat bogs and preserved by the bog conditions, often for thousands of years. The acid turns the wood a rich black).
The box would be useful for jewellery or as a desk tidy. It has a waxed finish.
The quoted postage cost reflect the box's weight, and I have allowed for 'signed-for' mailing.
