This game of pairs has been put together in a vintage distressed aged way. The Carry case and the game pieces have all been altered to look old and well used and a little worse for wear.
The case as had bronze paint and blue patina solution used on it as well as an iron paint with a rust activator. it has metal embellishments attached that have also been rusted and aged. the cover of the case was heated till holes appeared etc. then more rust and patina solutions were applied.
the game pieces are each 3 inches long and made of solid wood pieces. they have been stained and hand stamped with a Cog/ gears motif on the back and had vintage images attached tot he fronts. the images were then torn and distressed to continue the aged loo before a coat of varnish was added to protect the pieces making them able to stand up to being used.
the varnish was sanded back in places to give a patchy worn look.
there are 24 individually hand decorated game pieces in the box. 2 of each of the 12 images.
The game is played by laying the pieces face down on the table and each player takes a go at turning over two and trying to find a pair. if the pair is not a match then they put them back face down trying to recall what they saw. each player takes a turn and as the game progresses they will rely on their memory to find more and more pairs.
If a player successfully turns over a matching pair, he or she may continue turning over pieces two at a time until they fail to get a matching pair and play moves to the next player. the winner is the player with most pairs at the end of the game.
