Padaulk is an African timber which is bright orange when first cut quickly mellowing into a rich blood red the lighter wood is sap wood, 30 cm wide and 5 cm deep. This one has an apple in the centre which is turned from apple wood. The orange dust from this timber seems to get eveywhere and when it gets wet it turns deep purple all the dust that gets into the house I blame on the dog. I dont normally go about buying expensive African timbers I managed to cadge or here in Cheshire dialect kedged it for nothing I have lots of friends.
