These are machine embroidered patches - like the kind our mums used to sew onto our jeans or bags in the 1970's!
They are both lightly attached to this piece of card for display purposes, but can be taken off and glued, stitched, or pinned on to almost anything!
They are made using colourful reclaimed scraps of fabrics machine embroidered on to calico.
The result are quirky little pieces of art that are striking and versatile. You can indeed stitch them on to clothing, or make a feature of them on bags, cushions, curtains - and all manner of other textiley pieces. They could be made into bespoke greetings cards, or would make lovely little framed pictures.
The apple is 8.5cm wide and the heart measures 4cm across to give you an idea of the sizes of these pieces.
I seem to use a lot of dragonflys in the art I create - their sweet little wings and bodies are so great for using many colours and fabrics. I have used some vintage pieces of textiles in these patches (that always pleases me!)
