These skeins are strips of various silk fabrics (different weights & widths) that have been knotted together to form a very bulky yarn.
The ribbons vary in width, they are very creased in yarn form - if stretched out some are 1 inch wide some are 2 inches wide.
Brilliant for peg looming / weaving and rug hooking, you could crochet or knit them with big enough hooks/needles. Also useful for mixed media / collages / scrapbooking & City & Guilds students. As a feltmaker I would use the light weight ribbons in my felt - lightly veiled to anchor them in. Heavier weight ribbons can be frayed / shredded and the threads incorporated into felt to great effect.
The length of these skeins varies considerably as they are measured by weight and this depends on the fabrics in each skein.
