Full description
This listing is for one 300 m skein of North Ronaldsay wool in mid grey - fingering weight
On the rocks and beaches of the tiny Orkney island of North Ronaldsay live herds of rare breed sheep. Their diet of sea weed and the harsh weather conditions produce a fleece which is warm and thick, with a long staple. The yarn spun from these fleeces is both soft and hard wearing.
The yarn is spun in the island, in the buildings once used to house the lighthouse keepers. It comes in 5 natural colours.
There is a pattern for a scarf using one skein in the Makes section, and another free pattern on my website, http://www.northernlace.co.uk
This listing is for one 300 m skein of the fine yarn. It is a two ply yarn, and knits to most UK 4 ply or US fingering patterns. The skein weighs about 80 g.
