Full description

100g Sari silk fibre; this is the thrum fibres (waste) from silk sari weaving.

Absolutely gorgeous jewel bright colours – there are many different colours in each 100g bag - usually between 5 & 9, giving a good amount of each. These are loose fibres of varying length some thrums are 6” long others 18” long... truly is a mixed bag of loveliness.

I am a felter and love to incorporate these into pieces of felt as surface embellishment, they felt in well, and look absolutely stunning when dry. One of the photos shows a sample piece that I have felted with these fibres on white merino. Against coloured merino they look really special, the photo showing coloured felt; the piece has been felted as far as possible the sari silk becomes much more incorporated into the felt, giving a wonderful effect - the silk twinkling out from the matte wool (in the photo the sari silk is the lighter blue & metalic gold against deep blue) .

They`re also good for spinning, and/or carding into batts... and probably many other uses besides. This is the fibre that is used to spin sari silk yarn.

If you would like more than 100g please email me, and I`ll list more for you.

My postage is 1st class within the UK & standard airmail small packets for international. If you require insured/recorded delivery please contact me, that will however cost a little more. UK, If you wish to use 2nd class email me and I will amend the listing for you (its about 25p less).
