A sturdy felt letterbox and envelope in vibrant colours to play postman with!
The felt is 3 mm thick and therefore very sturdy. The box measures 15 x 15 x 8 cm. It has a large slit in which to slide envelopes and a flip lid to allow easy access to retrieve the mail. On the front, I have glued yellow felt letters that spell MAIL.
The envelope measures 8 x 10 cm and is made of the same quality felt as the letterbox, in a dynamic green. It is equipped with a velcro closure. The front of the envelope sports a colourful felt stamp in red and yellow as a reminder of the colours of the letterbox.
The letterbox and envelope are both made using hand stitching. No sewing machine has been used.
As an educator, I frequently use felt letterboxes to encourage children to write. They love to hide away to write a secret note, carefully put it in the envelope, seal it, post it and shout "You've got mail!" Over the years I have found it a fun and educational addition to a child's collection of toys.
The letterbox set comes with ten colourful rectangles of thin cardboard to fit the envelope (not pictured).
I am happy to make more envelopes for you if required, at the price of £1.50 per additional envelopes.
