If you're treating yourself to a bottle of something nice, then why stick an old cork in it?
Make it more special with this One-of-a-kind glass marble stopper. Made by hand by melting borosilicate glass (pyrex type glass) direct in a superhot propane & oxygen flame, I have formed inside a slightly unusual flower. This one has red petals in the centre which fade away as they stretch out, and some rather special ‘blue’ petals. Made with an odd (and difficult) glass called Unobtainium this has a metallic pearlescent look to it. Of course I can’t keep it that simple! When you move it around in the light these apparently solid petals are transparent! When trying to photograph it I found it even caught a yellow reflection from the gold coloured stopper and looked slightly green instead! Impossiable to photograph, this one needs to be seen in real life. I’ve also added some thin white and blue stripes beneath it and some yellow stamens to help set off this flower which will never wilt!
The marble is just over 28mm in diameter, and the stopper will fit most standard bottles with a rubber collar to help make a good seal. The metal has a gold finish, which looks especially good in a green bottle. Champagne anyone?
The marble has been annealed in a digitally controlled kiln, although it is glass so rough handling is NOT recommended, but handwashing is recommended!
