I use these pins myself and I like to use them because they are easy to grip (how many times have you broken your finger nails when pulling pins out of fabric?) They are very long at approx 4.5cms/1.5inches, so they can pin a considerable amount of fabric together which is very useful when doing applique work. They are also very pretty!!
They could also be used decoratively with flowers for "button hole arrangements" for weddings and embellished as a hat pin.
