Full description

Wanda Jackson

500mm x 500m, oil on canvas (2010)

Rock ‘n’ Roll genealogists could be forgiven for musing that the fabled 1950s affair between those two most raven-haired of wild young things, Elvis Aaron Presley and Wanda Lavonne Jackson (1937-), resulted in the birth of an illegitimate child, whom they christened Rockabilly. It is certainly true that The King helped turn Wanda on to “the Devil’s music”, but it was Ms Jackson herself who blended that rhythm and blues sound with a country twang and her own inimitable caterwaul to forge a distinctively raucous niche of her very own in roots rock folklore. It is testament to her power, panache and personality that those vocals remain as vibrant and vital as when they first exploded onto our radio airwaves and record turntables over half a century ago.

This is a one off original fine art painting of Dolly Parton which forms part of his 5 Queens of Country Exhibition currently on display at The Life Craft in Glasgow.

The exhibition includes paintings of:

Patsy Cline

Dolly Parton

Tammy Wynette and

Loretta Lynn

Paintings are marked for sale separately but to discuss purchase as a set please contact the seller.

Furthermore, prints of this artwork will be available soon...
